Black Ops 4 Blackout: New Battle Royale Mode
Treyarch have just released their new Battle Royale mode called Blackout to PS4 users. It's currently in Beta for a week long period, at which point Xbox and PC users will also be able to join later on in the week. Much like various other Battle Royale games like Fortnite, players fight to the death on a massive multiplayer map, scavaging for weapons and items that can help make them stronger. Call Of Duty fans will notice the different style of play than what they're used to as you only have one life and have to be a bit more stealthy as you play.
The game runs surprisingly well for a Beta. On the PS4, the graphics look a little blurry at times and it's not as good looking as the traditional 6v6 multiplayer modes, but for a 100 player battle royale it does look well. What's really promising is the framerate seems to be just as smooth as other games. Hitching is rare in this game and it'll only improve as the beta rolls on.
Blackout also features a number of vehicles that players can use, including helicopters and fourxfour vehicles. They don't feel clunky either and are a breeze to drive across the vast map of Blackout.
It is a Beta, so certain areas of the game need to improve. It'll be interesting to see the level up system and unlockables, skins and all that other stuff that's bound to come in. But if you're buying Black Ops 4 this year, you're definitely getting your money's worth with three great multiplayer modes: Zombies, Classic Multiplayer and now Battle Royale (Blackout).
